Broken Arrow City Council to consider resolution opposing gaming at Red Creek facility

Broken Arrow city councilors will hear a draft resolution Tuesday stating their opposition to gaming at the proposed Red Creek facility and authorizing city officials to take action to stop gaming at the site.

The draft resolution will be considered during the council’s regular 6:30 p.m. meeting. A refined resolution will be considered at their Aug. 1 meeting.

The resolution comes amid rumors about the facility, which was first proposed in August 2016 as a dance hall and restaurant, to be located on a Muscogee (Creek) land allotment south of the Creek Turnpike and west of South 129th East Avenue. The land is allotted to Muscogee (Creek) Nation member Steve Bruner.

Since the initial proposal, Red Creek officials have said numerous times they are considering hosting Class II Gaming at the facility, though there has been opposition from residents and the Muscogee (Creek) Nation.
