Alabama: Two Birmingham leaders join statewide study group for gambling policy Angel Coker, Birmingham Business Journal · February 14, 2020 at 3:36 pm Two Birmingham leaders have joined a statewide study group to gather information on gaming expansion in Alabama, which includes a lottery. Elizabeth “Liz” Huntley and Bishop B. Mike Watson of Birmingham are involved in the group of volunteers that Gov. Kay Ivey formed by executive order. Ivey signed Executive Order 719 on Friday, forming the Study Group for Gambling policy, made up of 12 people that included legal scholars, law enforcement, public servants from state and local levels, clergy and successful members of the business community. The group will submit a final report to the governor, the Alabama Legislature and the public no later than Dec. 31.
