Longtime gaming industry executive Alan Feldman has joined the International Gaming Institute at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas as a Distinguished Fellow in Responsible Gaming.
Feldman, who spent nearly three decades as senior executive with both Mirage Resorts and MGM Resorts International, will lead the institute’s responsible gaming efforts, including further developing programs and policies to advance knowledge and capabilities within the industry and regulatory community.
The International Gaming Institute promotes international best practices in responsible gaming. It actively conducts responsible gaming research and related training programs, including a report and related work that led to the approval of integrated resorts in Japan.

In March, Feldman said he was taking advantage of a voluntary resignation program offered through the MGM 2020 cost reduction and margin improvement plan. He left his position as executive vice president of global industry affairs but continues to advise the company on the development and implementation of responsible gaming policies and programs, including MGM GameSense—a nationwide responsible gaming initiative.
Feldman serves as chair of both the National Center for Responsible Gaming and the Nevada Advisory Committee on Problem Gambling.
“I am so excited to bring what I’ve learned in my career and work with the public, private, and non-profit sectors to UNLV International Gaming Institute,” Feldman said. “Working together, I’m confident we’ll be able to gain new insights into harm reduction for at-risk players and positively impact more lives globally through our responsible gaming efforts.”
Over his 30-plus year career, Feldman has also developed relationships with academics, clinicians, public health officials, and problem gambling patients and is a frequent speaker on responsible gaming at conferences, universities, and media events around the world.
