In two recent articles, Andrew Klebanow examines current issues and trends in both integrated resort development and safety protocols during the pandemic.

In an article entitled, “NagaCorp’s Cambodia Gambit” in the December issue of CDC Gaming Reports’ Focus on Asia, Klebanow discusses NagaCorp’s recent  announcement that it will develop a non-gaming resort and theme park near the kingdom’s world heritage site of Angkor Wat.  This move is not without risks, but holds the promise of positioning NagaCorp as the dominant operator of both casino resorts and mixed-use tourist destinations in Cambodia, and a powerful force in Asian gaming.

The effects of casino smoking policies are explored in an article published in the November/December issue of Indian Gaming Magazine.  “Rethinking Smoking Policies During a Pandemic” examines the ongoing threat that smoking in casinos poses to casino patrons, employees, and vulnerable members of the community.  Long-held beliefs that smoking is necessary to attract customers are weighed against the risks these policies pose during the pandemic.
