Major online gaming developer Betsoft has announced that it has been awarded a National Gambling Class II License in Romania as part of a general push by the firm to expand across regulated markets worldwide. Headquartered in Malta but active across much of Europe, including Italy and Denmark, Betsoft have been persistent in pressing forward their expansion efforts in recent years. They also operate in Curaçao.

Betsoft will be able to offer its full suite of games to licensed Romanian providers, including HTML5 native titles. It will also be making available its support services and full back office for management solutions to participating operators. This back office, called Casino Manager, provides solutions for reporting, marketing and promotion alongside management tools. Betsoft offers over 190 RNG titles and is partnered with many operators internationally. They recently rolled out a Shift environment, which is designed to aid cross-platform game development while reducing file size and enhancing integrations.

Julian Camilleri, account management director for the firm, issued the following statement with the news of the license acquisition: “We are pleased to have earned the opportunity to provide our games and platforms to such an exciting market, at the right time in its evolution. Following re-regulation in 2016, the Romanian iGaming industry has grown dramatically, spurred on by clearer guidelines and better structures for player protection.”

“While other providers rushed in early, we now believe the time is right for an educated player base to engage with our content and for mature operators to benefit from our platforms.”

Betsoft released further comments from Camilleri which outline their outlook on the global future prospects and intentions for the firm.

“Internationalisation is one of the cornerstones of our strategy for the near future, and we have worked hard over the last twelve months to lay the foundations for further growth at home and abroad,” he said. “While Betsoft creates games with universal themes and intuitive gameplay mechanics, our portfolio of content is also broad enough that operators in individual regions can prioritise certain themes or features that will appeal to their market.

“Our objectives are simple: to make the strongest possible entries into the right jurisdictions, and to be recognised in new regions for the signature style of cinematic gaming that has already made Betsoft a powerful force in our existing markets.”

Strong words, and it seems insofar as they continue to make their presence felt, Betsoft are following them up with corresponding actions.
