Make Responsible Gaming a Year-Round Commitment By Sara Rayme. Senior Vice President, Public Affairs, American Gaming Association June 12, 2015 at 9:49 am The American Gaming Association (AGA) and its members know that responsible gaming education is more than a weeklong event – it’s a year-round commitment. We are departing from the tradition of promoting a “new theme” annually; instead we encourage the casino gaming industry to use Responsible Gaming Education Week, August 3-7, 2015, as a good reminder to reiterate foundational and evergreen responsible gaming education, programming and awareness with employees, patrons, policymakers and the public at large. Accordingly, the AGA has added to and enhanced its responsible gaming resources for the industry and encourages everyone to play responsibly throughout the year. Please find posters, brochures and other collateral online and available to download – or if you prefer to have printed materials sent to you directly, order through the AGA store. AGA members may purchase items at cost from the online store with their member promo code. If you do not have your promo code, please contact Shekinah Hoffman. In July, new and existing collateral in English will be available in five other languages: Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese and Spanish. Other resources you may wish to consider using throughout the year to better inform gaming employees about responsible gaming are: Code of conduct for responsible gaming: Refresh your employees with the AGA pledge and commitment to responsible gaming. Leadership memo: Distribute this responsible gaming leadership memo to outline that your company’s commitment to responsible gaming starts at the top. Press release: Tout your company’s commitment to responsible gaming with local media. Proclamation: Encourage policymakers to endorse the casino gaming industry’s commitment to responsible gaming. Meeting planner: Post this flyer that helps inform employees about Responsible Gaming Education Week, August 3-7, 2015 – and encourages increasing awareness year-round. Digital poster: Remind employees that responsible gaming is a year-round commitment using back-of-house digital signage. Newsletter article: Incorporate responsible gaming messaging into internal employee communications. Quiz: Test your team’s responsible gaming knowledge with this quiz – and reward the most informed! Paystub insert: Include responsible gaming messaging as an insert within employees’ paystubs. Suggested activities: Keep responsible gaming top of mind for employees with other activities and ideas for engaging on this important issue. Our industry devotes resources and supports programs to help the approximately one percent of the population who struggle with gambling addiction – year-round. We encourage everyone to play responsibly.
