JCM is a world leader in transaction and payment technologies. Cash Processing Solutions (CPS) is the industry’s only independent global provider of customer focused, end-to-end, data-driven cash management solutions.

It was in July 2020 when JCM announced it had selected CPS as its partner. Their agreement enables JCM to supply advanced high-speed count/sort equipment and cash management software in North America and brings end-to-end cash handling for casino gaming.

JCM uses CPS’ software solution, ECM Edge, as well as its count sort machines, including the advanced 7000i Edge, V Edge, and X Edge. Combining CPS products with JCM’s ICB Intelligent Cash Box and FUZION systems, JCM has been able to offer its customers a complete count room solution for more visibility over the operation, increased efficiency, and enhanced security.

“There’s a synergy between the two companies in JCM and CPS because we have a lot of the same goals in what we’re trying to do on efficiency and productivity. CPS really touches the count room side of it, and JCM really brings in feature functionality all the way from the drop on the slot floor,” said Jim Goodwin, CPS’ vice president of casino and entertainment. “We’re one of the first partnerships that has brought together the solutions that JCM has, like its FUZION and iVIZION (bill validator), and CPS product of ECM Edge. We married those two products through interfaces to bring cohesiveness to the type of information that the drop gives us in the count room and what the count room can do with that information.”

Typically, this is a situation where you have separate companies that are not tied in very well with the exception of small interfaces, Goodwin said.

“This has become a product that ties into each other in a lot of different ways,” he explained. “ECM Edge is a look at a cash cycle of a casino, where we look at not only the cash coming off the floor through JCM, but we do tasks within the cage where the software touches (many things). If we concentrate on the count room, it ties JCM products to our count-sort equipment as well as sending all the information to the casino accounting system. It’s the glue that brings it all together and starts that whole solution. ECM Edge is a required piece, but also necessary for everything to work together.”

CPS has mostly concentrated on central banks around the world and large CITs around card services. They are growing their docket of casino installations around the world with customers in Canada, Macau, and Australia, and they are now building a base in the U.S.

“Some of the newer installs include Coyote Valley in Northern California, and in Oklahoma we are about to install two casinos of the same tribe within the next few weeks. And we’re working on a lot of other ones. There’s also expansion happening within the Canadian region.”

Goodwin pointed out that the interface and information capacity between JCM and CPS is “unique in the industry” and there are special features like imaging of TITO tickets as well as shredding them in line.

“JCM is known for searching out the world’s best partnership for its customers to help with critical areas with the best products and systems,” said Katie Gehrke, a Marketing Specialist at JCM. She said her company is always looking for ways to help customers increase their efficiencies.

“With us combined, we bring the productivity of a count room to a whole new level,” Goodwin said. “With the types of things JCM is doing and CPS is doing, it allows the casinos to future-proof their whole process. There are so many new technologies that JCM and CPS are doing that those two coming together are going to bring to the count room that people haven’t imagined. As we move forward in time, you’re really future-proofing your count and drop process by using a partnership like JCM and CPS.”
