After French gold producer Auplata recently considered a cryptocurrency fundraiser, it is now the turn of another company listed on the Paris Stock Exchange: video game publisher Atari.
The company announced last weekend that it would take a 15% stake in the capital of company Infinity Networks, which is developing a decentralized platform built to provide access to digital content of various forms, from video games to movies and music. Still under development, this platform will function using a new cryptocurrency called the Atari Token.
“Blockchain technology is poised to take a very important place in our environment and transform, if not revolutionize, the current economic ecosystem, especially in the areas of the video game industry and online transactions,” said the CEO of Atari.
However, unlike Auplata, which plans to partly leverage its cryptocurrency using future gold production, Atari does not expect to spend a penny on this operation.
