Juegos Miami, a conference for gaming leaders in Latin and South America, kicked off Tuesday, but the older cousin of the twin events slated for Miami this week doesn’t begin until Wednesday.

The Global Interactive Gaming Summit & Expo, commonly known as GiGse, is designed for industry leaders and will cover gambling topics such as casino gambling, online implementation, sports betting and skill-based gaming. The event is in its eighth year.

Like Juegos Miami, which is in its third year, the event is being held at The Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, a ritzy village just south of Miami. Clarion Gaming, which produces similar events worldwide, is putting the two conferences together this year.

GiGse could not have come at a better time, organizers say. They point to the event as an opportunity to  digest the implications of the Supreme Court’s ruling that ended the federal ban on sports betting.

Given that the event features key legislators, operators and decision makers, people could be mapping out scenarios from every perspective, including those impacting sports associations, end-users, gambling operators and technology providers.

“The North American gaming industry is at a very exciting juncture, and GiGse could not be taking place at a more prescient time,” said Clarion Gaming’s Head of Industry Insight and Engagement Ewa Bakun.

GiGse 2018 will feature more than 70 speakers and include more than 13 hours of sessions and seven hours of networking.

Among those confirmed to speak at the event are Joe Asher, CEO, William Hill US; Art Manteris, VP Sport and Race Operations, Station Casinos / Red Rock Resorts; and Benjie Cherniak, President, Don Best Sports, all of whom will be part of the U.S. sports betting panel.

Minnesota State Rep. Patrick Garofalo will discuss regulating and taxing sports betting. Scott Butera, a partner with White Winston and former Commissioner of the Arena Football League, also is booked, as well as Richard Schuetz, a gaming and regulatory consultant who is the former executive director of the Bermuda Casino Gaming Commission.

GiGse officials note that the event is heavy in senior gaming professionals, with 77 percent of registered delegates classified as being director or above.

In addition to GiGse, Clarion Gaming offers the news and intelligence resources Totally Gaming and iGaming Business; the Totally Gaming Academy training series; and conferences and exhibitions such as ICE London, ICE Africa, iGB Live! and several regional gaming congresses.
