Traditional betting shops are a staple of the British high street, but there are some areas of the UK where you will find more than others – and Hull is one of those places. For the first time in Hull, council officials have started looking at gambling as a public health issue. They have already estimated up to 13,000 people in the city are currently at risk of developing a serious gambling addiction. Another 3,600 are already likely to be problem gamblers.
