Illinois: Revenue at Grand Victoria in Elgin making comeback to pre-pandemic flows

In the months since the state of Illinois lifted COVID-19 restrictions, gaming at Elgin’s Grand Victoria Casino is steadily bouncing back.

The Illinois Gaming Board’s monthly reports show Grand Victoria had $64.8 million in revenues between January 2022 and May 2022. Attendance was 381,443 visitors, data shows.

Its revenues from the same period in 2021 were $51.7 million, according to the reports. Attendance was 277,276 visitors, reports showed.

“Pre-pandemic, casinos were doing well,” said Thomas Thanas, executive director of the Illinois Casino Gaming Association. The association coordinates industry initiatives – including advocacy and education on issues like economic development, community service – and responsible gaming, according to its website.
