Louisiana’s newest casino draws on competition October 21, 2012 at 4:02 am ASSOCIATED PRESS BATON ROUGE, La. — A new Baton Rouge casino is taking revenue away from casinos not only in Baton Rouge but in New Orleans and Mississippi, says the manager of a rival gambling hall. The L’Auberge Casino & Hotel Baton Rouge, which opened Sept. 1, reaped $13.3 million in revenue, The Advocate newspaper reports. Meanwhile, Harrah’s Casino in New Orleans won $25.2 million from gamblers, $5.5 million less than a year ago, according to the Louisiana Gaming Control Board. Hollywood Casino Baton Rouge General Manager Jim Rigot says $1.8 million of L’Auberge’s revenue came from his casino and $1.2 million from the Belle of Baton Rouge. The remainder likely came from the Mississippi Coast casinos, Rigot says, although those numbers haven’t yet been reported. New Orleans casino boats saw September revenue dip $331,594.
