Malaga: 350 sports betting terminals authorized

Since the Junta de Andalucía approved sports betting last September alongside regulations to govern competition across the region, 350 sports betting terminals have been installed across 67 gaming rooms, four bingo halls and two casinos in the province.

Sports betting has sprung from the virtual world and make the leap to the traditional gaming halls of the province. Codere, Sportium and Luckia are found now next to slot machines and roulette in the gambling halls of major venues.

The new regulations authorized by the Andalusian administration has also allowed for the opening of exclusive venues for sports betting.

These regulations have been slow to reach Andalusia. The first to approve brick and mortar sports betting machines were Madrid and the Basque Country, which started doing so in 2008, while Andalusia and the Balearic Islands are the latest regions to do so.
