Missouri: St. Charles, downtown St. Louis casinos could be only two operating in region next week Kurt Erickson and Jacob Barker, St. Louis Post-Dispatch · May 28, 2020 at 3:28 pm JEFFERSON CITY — State and local officials are preparing for the reopening of casinos on Monday, undeterred after photos of shoulder-to-shoulder Lake of the Ozarks revelers hit the national spotlight this weekend. The casinos will limit amenities and boost protective measures. And Missouri highway patrol officers will be stationed inside, keeping watch for people who aren’t practicing social distancing, the state’s top gaming regulator said on Tuesday. Still, the officers won’t be arresting those who are crowding together. “If social distancing is not being practiced, I am sure they will bring that to the attention of management,” said Mike Leara, chairman of the Missouri Gaming Commission board.
