Connecticut-based Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment said Thursday Ray Pineault has been appointed the company’s regional president.

The company also appointed Jeffrey Hamilton as General Manager Mohegan Sun Connecticut, the company’s flagship resort.

Mohegan Gaming CEO Mario Kontomerkos said the personnel moves come as the company, which is controlled by the Mohegan Indian Tribe, looks to expand its gaming landscape. In September, Mohegan Gaming was named operator of the casino inside the planned Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, a rebranding and renovation of the off-Strip Hard Rock Las Vegas.

Mohegan will become the first tribal gaming company to manage a resort in the nation’s largest commercial gambling market.

Internationally, Mohegan is developing a planned $5 billion resort at Incheon International Airport in South Korea and is bidding on a potential integrated resort license for the former Hellenikon International Airport near Athens, Greece.

“As a company in the midst of unprecedented growth, it is a priority for us as an enterprise to build the best team of senior executive leaders to support and oversee the continued development of MGE both domestically and internationally,” Kontomerkos said.

Pineault will oversee from a corporate level the overall operations of the Mohegan Sun Connecticut, New York’s Mohegan Sun Pocono and Louisiana’s Paragon Casino Resort. He has spent 15 years with the company, most recently as general manager of the Mohegan Sun.

Chris Block is also a Mohegan regional president and oversees four of the company’s nine properties in Canada, South Korea, and Las Vegas. Both Pineault and Block report to Mohegan Chief Operating Officer Michael Silberling.

Hamilton has been the assistant general manager of Mohegan Sun for the past four years and he has more than 15 years of experience with the company.

“We are confident that Ray will be instrumental in driving results within the growing fleet of Mohegan Gaming properties and couldn’t be more pleased to have Jeffrey Hamilton take the reins of our flagship resort,” Kontomerkos said.
