NCPG renews Advisory Board

The National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) announces the renewal of its Advisory Board for the 2020-2021 term. The Advisory Board offers a way for experts and leaders in the fields of problem gambling and responsible gambling from across the globe to provide their advice and perspectives on matters of significance to the NCPG Board of Directors and leadership.

“The problem and responsible gambling environment in the U.S. is changing rapidly with the continued expansion of casinos, lotteries, and the addition of sports betting. NCPG faces an ever more complex ecosystem of issues to address,” said Keith Whyte, Executive Director of NCPG. “The Advisory Board members collaboratively guide NCPG in our efforts to raise awareness about problem gambling and increase resources for addressing this important issue.”

Joining the Advisory Board for the new term is Nanette L. Horner, JD. Ms. Horner has been an attorney in the gaming industry since 1996. She is well known in the problem gambling field as the first director of the Office of Compulsive and Problem Gambling with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB), where she was a regulator and Deputy Chief Counsel assigned to the Bureau of Licensing. She most recently served as Executive Vice President, Chief Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer with Empire Resorts, Inc. in New York. She previously worked as a gaming attorney with Brown, Michael & Carroll, PC where her practice involved representation of individuals, companies and Native American Tribes engaged in legalized gaming, both domestically and internationally. Ms. Horner was an adjunct professor of law at Rutgers School of Law in Camden, New Jersey, teaching courses concentrating in various aspects of casino law. She has written articles for gaming publications and is a seasoned speaker for numerous gaming and governmental conferences focusing on the history and future of gaming regulation, corporate social responsibility and problem gambling. Ms. Horner served as the Treasurer and chair of several committees during her two terms as a member of the NCPG Board of Directors, just completed; and is a member of American Mensa and the International Masters of Gaming Law.

Ms. Horner said, “I am honored to be appointed to the Advisory Board and to continue to have an active role in supporting NCPG’s Board of Directors and its mission. It is more important than ever for gambling industry, government and regulatory entities to engage in responsible gambling and support for problem gambling services as gambling continues to expand in the U.S. It is equally important for people in both fields to work together in order to be as effective as possible.”
