NH House panel takes up gambling bills Associated Press · March 4, 2014 at 6:00 am CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – A House committee is voting on four gambling proposals, including one from the special commission appointed to study regulatory issues after a casino billed failed last year. The House Ways and Means Committee is deciding Tuesday whether to recommend passage of legislation that would license one casino with up to 5,000 video slots and 150 table games. The proposed regulations are much more extensive than were in the bill killed by the House last year, but limits on the number of video slots allowed and other details about a new casino are nearly identical. Gov. Maggie Hassan argues that New Hampshire should legalize a casino to capture gambling profits that otherwise will be spent in Massachusetts casinos. Copyright 2014 The Associated Press.
