Northwest Indiana casino revenue down for July year-over-yearKaren Caffarini, Chicago Tribune · August 11, 2017 at 4:15 pm A less-than-favorable calendar worked against Northwest Indiana’s casinos in July, resulting in a roughly 2.5 percent drop in revenues compared to the same month last year. The five casinos brought in a total of $79.25 million in revenues, compared to $81.86 million in July 2016, according to the monthly revenues report issued Aug. 9 by the Indiana Gaming Commission. Horseshoe Hammond and Majestic Star I in Gary were the only two casinos to show improvements over last year’s numbers. Horseshoe took in $34.12 million, up almost 2 percent over the $33.83 million it raked in a year ago. Majestic Star I had $8.05 million in revenues, up from $7.87 million.“I’m excited Horseshoe specifically was able to grow overall. We bucked the trend,” Horseshoe senior vice president and general manager Dan Nita said.
