Passport Technology is a name we’ve been expecting to hear more from ever since they partnered with the European Casino Association back in June of last year. They develop technology products and services for global payment processing, as well as for gaming markets; they are actively involved with payment kiosks, analytic technology, and interactive content, and look set to expand their work with European land-based casinos.

We now have some news which suggests this is starting to happen. On January 26th, Passport Technology announced that it had completed a user acceptance testing (UAT) cycle on new software that it intends to roll out across multiple European casinos.

The gaming firm further announced that it has signed up to provide services for the Regency Casino in Thessaloniki, owned by Regency Entertainment. This is a major score for Passport Technology, as it is the largest casino in the whole country.

One element of the technology in question goes under the name of CashValet P2PE, which is a cloud-based application set up to allow custom solutions in real-time. It carries a self-exclusion program, enhanced security features, and dynamic currency conversion. Passport provides both kiosk- and console-based versions of CashValet.

Passport Technology’s services are designed to be innovative in terms of ease of transaction, but also in terms of customer-related due diligence and as a bulwark against problem gaming. In the UK, they work with leading industry organizations focused on promoting responsible gambling; such entities as GamCare, GambleAware, the National Casino Forum and the UK Gambling Commission are listed on the relevant section of their website. They are part of a vanguard of a new wave in the European gambling scene – an enhanced emphasis on protecting the player – which some may argue is long overdue.
