Pennsylvania gaming revenue declines for third month in a row

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board Thursday reported revenue of $375.7 million in February from all forms of gaming. The total is a monthly year-over-year increase of 24.1% percent, but a decrease from the $393.1 million generated in January 2022.

February’s revenue also marked the third straight month that Pennsylvania gaming revenue declined since peaking at $432.5 million in November, the commonwealth’s highest monthly amount.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National in Grantville led all brick-and-mortar casinos, reporting $59.5 million in revenue, a 42.1% increase over February 2021. Parx Casino in Philadelphia followed with $53.6 million, and Wind Creek Bethlehem generated $42.9 million.

Revenue from slot machines was $194.7 million in February. Table games accounted for $74.4 million, and igaming slot revenue was $68.1 million.

Parx Casino brought in the most slot revenue at $33.9 million. Wind Creek Bethlehem’s $22.3 million and Rivers Casino Pittsburgh’s $21.5 million rounded out the top three slot-revenue generators.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National led in igaming revenue, totaling $42.7 million. Rivers Casino Philadelphia generated $24.5 million and Valley Forge Casino Resort in King of Prussia brought in $18.5 million.

The total handle for sports betting in Pennsylvania in February was $597.1 million, with a revenue loss of $442,847. Valley Forge Casino Resort’s handle was $215 million, followed by Hollywood Casino at the Meadows in Meadowlands with $141.5 million and Hollywood Casino Morgantown with $72.9 million.

Valley Forge’s revenue from sports betting was $1.6 million in February. Hollywood Casino at Penn National totaled $1.1 million and Parx Casino brought in $819,918 in sports betting revenue.

Six casinos in the state reported negative sports-betting revenue, with Hollywood Casino at the Meadows reporting a loss of $3.3 million.
