In total, Canadian gaming revenue was C$17.3 billion during 2017, according to a report compiled by Fantini Gaming Research.

The report collected revenue for casinos, lottery, Internet and charitable gaming. Ontario, home to Toronto – Canada’s largest city – reported gaming revenue of C$7.445 billion – roughly 43 percent of the country’s total gaming revenue.

Fantini editors pointed out that growth in the Canadian and the province’s gaming numbers comes as the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp., has moved to privatize and modernize casino operations.

The largest beneficiaries of the effort are the publicly-traded Grand Canadian Gaming Corp., and a joint venture between Gateway Casinos and Clairvest.

Quebec was the second-largest gaming revenue province behind Ontario, reporting C$3.6 billion during 2017, an increase of 2.12 percent.

British Columbia saw revenues increase 1.36 percent to C$3.14 billion.

In September, Parq Vancouver, a C$640 million hotel-casino development, opened in British Columbia’s largest city. The resort, which is operated by Las Vegas-based Paragon Gaming, includes 517 hotel rooms over three towers. Parq Vancouver operates a two-floor casino with 600 slot machines and 75 table games, which replaced Vancouver’s Edgewater Casino.

In addition to the Canadian Gaming Revenue Report, Fantini Gaming Research produces the Fantini National Revenue Report, which tracks gaming revenue across the U.S.
