Seminole Tribe suspends gambling payments to state of Florida Jeffrey Schweers, Tallahassee Democrat · May 16, 2019 at 12:05 am The Seminole Tribe of Florida notified Gov. Ron DeSantis that it will stop making millions in monthly payments for gaming exclusivity rights effective Wednesday after legislative negotiations failed yet again over its exclusive rights to certain card games. “The Tribe believes that the compact and related legislation developed with the Senate leadership would have resolved this issue and been mutually beneficial to the State and the Tribe,” Marcellus Osceola Jr., chairman of the tribal council wrote. Osceola said he respected the governor’s decision to take more time to review the issues and resume discussions in the summer. “In the meantime, the Tribe will follow its agreement with the state and suspend its revenue share payments until the illegal banked card game issue is resolved,” Osceola wrote.
