The Tuscany region of Italy has approved new rules against gambling addiction.
Heavier penalties, increased training of managers and operators to help tackle the problem, and a minimum distance of five hundred meters between sensitive gambling places and ATMs or businesses that buy gold, are some of the amendments recently approved by a majority of the Regional Council in an attempt to fight gambling addiction in Tuscany.
Stefano Scaramelli, President of the Commission of Health, said that they have created a major focus on gambling by introducing training as a core element of the solution, which puts Tuscany once again at the forefront in Italy.
The financial penalties have increased, as well: a new minimum of €1000 up to a maximum €5000 if gambling operators fail to follow the new rules.
