Tulsans of the Year: Pat Crofts spearheads astounding year for River Spirit Casino Scott Cherry, Tulsa World · December 21, 2017 at 9:28 pm To get what you want, sometimes you just have to take a deep breath, pick up the phone and give it your best shot. “I cold-called both Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville and Ruth’s Chris,” said Pat Crofts, CEO of Muscogee (Creek) Nation Casinos. “At first, we were hoping to attract two national brands, and we wound up with two great international brands. It all came together really nicely.” Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Casino & Restaurant and Ruth’s Chris Steak House would become the cornerstones of a $365 million expansion of River Spirit Casino Resort. The project also included a 483-room luxury hotel, spa, salon and lavish pool deck overlooking the Arkansas River, all completed this year. The project has consumed much of Crofts’ time since he was named CEO in 2011. He started his career as an accountant in the Howard Hughes’ Las Vegas empire in 1973 and spent a number of years with Harrah’s and with a company that developed Indian tribe casinos, landing him at projects all over the world. He was consulting with River Spirit Casino a year before it opened in 2009.
