Professional sports gambler and Las Vegas native James Holzhauer is in the process of doing things to the game show Jeopardy! that have never been done before. Utilizing a fearless, all-in gambling style on Daily Doubles – which he finds with startling regularity, largely due to his Ken Jennings-esque mastery of the buzzer – and a seemingly endless well of trivia to draw from, Holzhauer has won eleven straight games and run his total winnings to $771,920, the second-highest in the show’s history to Jennings’ $2,520,700.

Jennings, however, needed 74 games to accumulate his record total. Holzhauer is nowhere near that total yet. But it’s hard to bet against him at this point, even if he did tell Alex Trebek last week to bet the Tampa Bay Lightning to win the Stanley Cup. It’s probably the only bad choice he’s made during his run: the Lightning, after tying the NHL’s single-season wins record this year, were swept in the first round by the Columbus Blue Jackets in one of the biggest upsets in hockey history.

Gamble On, a weekly podcast hosted by US Bets Managing Editor Eric Raskin and Senior Analyst John Brennan, has an exclusive interview with the reigning champ, covering his Daily Double strategy, changing the public image of a sports gambler, and how big a role buzzer skills play in his success.

Plus analysis of Pennsylvania’s announced online gaming launch date, the betting on (and media coverage of the betting on) Tiger Woods’ Masters win, and New Jersey’s massive March numbers.
