Following the launch of its pop-up sportsbook at Capital One Arena in July, operator William Hill has unveiled the first look at its first-of-its-kind permanent sportsbook location expected to open in early 2021.

Meanwhile, the pop-up at the arena’s ticket window has been popular.

More than 113,000 bets, totaling $12.2 million dollars, were placed in September at the temporary sportsbook, according to numbers released Thursday by William Hill U.S.

The renderings showcase the multi-level full-service book with 12 ticket windows and 10 self-service kiosks, two VIP areas, and one large private dining/event space.

Additional features include:

• 1,500 square feet of custom LED that will wrap the entire facility

• A jumbotron replica of the one located inside the arena

• A radio and TV broadcast studio visible from the main bar area and to pedestrians walking past

• Design elements that pay homage to the history of sports and the local professional teams

Construction will begin on the permanent sportsbook space as soon as it receives all required regulatory approvals.

When it debuts in early 2021, the William Hill Sports Book will be open daily year-round and accessible to the public from F Street. In addition, the second floor offers direct access to and from the arena during select ticketed events. Sports fans of legal age can also wager on a William Hill mobile app inside the arena, as permitted by Washington, D.C., regulations. Details about the mobile app, along with the food and beverage operator, will be announced in the coming weeks.

“The success of the William Hill pop-up sportsbook has exceeded our expectations and we’re now creating a game-day experience that can’t be rivaled,” said David Grolman, president of retail operations for William Hill US.

Jim Van Stone, president of business operations and chief commercial officer for Monumental Sports & Entertainment, said the location will become a premier entertainment destination for Washingtonians and visitors to the Greater Washington region.

“The William Hill Sports Book will be a one-of-a-kind immersive experience, not only for Wizards and Capitals fans attending events but for all sports fans,” he said.
